Indian government agencies and some private companies have been granted access to Anthropic's advanced AI model, Mythos. According to a PTI report, it could help secure the data of more than 100 million people. Here's how.
New Delhi: Some Indian government agencies and private-sector companies have gained access to the advanced AI model "Mythos" developed by the U.S.-based AI company Anthropic. This access has been provided as part of the expansion of the company's Project Glasswing initiative, sources said on Saturday.
According to people familiar with the matter, the number of Indian organizations currently granted access to Mythos remains in the single digits and includes both government and private institutions.
However, the names of the Indian organizations that have received access have not been disclosed. Anthropic had not responded to requests for comment at the time of reporting.
Mythos is an advanced AI model designed to identify security vulnerabilities in software and strengthen cybersecurity defenses. The goal of Project Glasswing is to protect critical digital systems from cyberattacks. Under the program, selected organizations are allowed to use an advanced AI model called Claude Mythos Preview.
When the initiative was launched in April, around 50 global partners were included. Last week, the program was expanded to include approximately 150 additional organizations across more than 15 countries, including institutions from critical sectors such as electricity, water, healthcare, communications, and hardware infrastructure.
In a statement issued on June 2, Anthropic said:
"The new partners include several vendors—companies and nonprofit organizations that maintain codebases relied upon by governments and many organizations around the world."
The company stated that these partner organizations are entities where a successful cyberattack could have widespread consequences, potentially affecting more than 100 million people in some cases.
Access to the Mythos model will help participating organizations:
- Detect security vulnerabilities in their digital infrastructure.
- Test the effectiveness of their security systems.
- Fix weaknesses in software systems more quickly.
- Improve overall cyber resilience against attacks.
According to Anthropic, the initiative has already helped identify more than 10,000 critical software vulnerabilities.
Anthropic urges caution about AI risks
In a separate blog post, Anthropic urged leading AI laboratories to exercise caution regarding the rapid advancement of AI technology. The company warned that highly advanced AI systems may eventually become capable of rapidly improving their own abilities, potentially surpassing human oversight and creating broader societal risks.
