Pandal Construction Underway
Pandal construction is progressing rapidly at several locations across Dhanbad. Artisans from different parts of the region and neighbouring states are working with bamboo, cloth, wood and decorative materials to create the structures.
Alongside the pandals, idol makers are also putting the finishing touches on Durga idols. Weather conditions, particularly rain, have presented some challenges for artisans involved in idol making and painting.
Despite these difficulties, preparations are continuing so that the idols and pandals can be completed before the main celebrations.
Vrindavan-Themed Pandal in Bhuda
One of the attractions this year will be a Vrindavan-themed pandal in the Rani Road-Bhuda area.
The organisers are planning to create an atmosphere inspired by Vrindavan, combining the Durga idol with religious decorations and themed displays.
According to local reports, the puja committee has allocated a budget of around ₹12 lakh for the celebration.
Jagannath Temple-Inspired Pandal in Jharia
In Jharia Main Road, the Shri Shri Maa Mangala Chandi Durga Puja Committee is preparing a pandal inspired by the famous Jagannath Temple of Puri.
Artisans from Kolkata are reportedly involved in the construction work. The committee has traditionally organised Durga Puja following Bengali cultural traditions.
Special lighting and decorative elements are also being planned to give the pandal a distinctive appearance during the festival.
'Tribal Sheesh Mahal' Theme in Hirapur
Hirapur is also preparing for an unusual theme this year.
At Jharkhand Maidan, the Satyam Shivam Sundaram Durga Puja Committee is creating a pandal based on the theme of a "Tribal Sheesh Mahal."
The design aims to combine elements of tribal culture with artistic decoration. Lighting and decorative features will further enhance the appearance of the pandal.
The theme is expected to offer visitors a different visual experience while highlighting elements of local cultural identity.
150-Foot Arun Temple-Inspired Pandal in Katras
Katras is preparing one of the most ambitious pandal projects of the season.
At the GNM area, organisers are developing a pandal inspired by Thailand's famous Arun Temple.
According to reports, the proposed structure is expected to be approximately 150 feet high and 140 feet wide. Around ₹52 lakh is reportedly planned for the pandal and lighting arrangements.
To manage the expected crowds, organisers are preparing security arrangements involving approximately 200 volunteers and 32 CCTV cameras. Medical assistance is also being planned for visitors.
Baliapur Prepares for Puja and Mela
In Baliapur, the Shri Shri Sarvajanik Durga Puja Committee is preparing a pandal with an estimated cost of around ₹3 lakh.
Approximately 12 artisans are working on the construction. Along with the religious celebrations, visitors are expected to find a local fair featuring food stalls and other attractions.
The organisers are also preparing for Ravana Dahan on Vijayadashami, adding another attraction to the festive programme.
Security Arrangements Being Strengthened
With thousands of devotees expected to visit popular pandals, security and crowd management have become an important part of the preparations.
Police officials have been coordinating with puja committees regarding security, crowd control and traffic management.
Authorities are also focusing on CCTV surveillance and fire-safety arrangements at major puja venues. Organisers have been advised to follow the required safety guidelines and ensure that adequate arrangements are available for visitors.
Traffic Management to Be a Major Focus
The number of vehicles on Dhanbad's roads is expected to increase significantly during the festive period, particularly around major markets and popular pandals.
Traffic authorities are therefore preparing plans for managing congestion and regulating vehicle movement around busy locations.
Visitors are expected to be advised to use designated parking areas and follow traffic instructions, particularly during the evening hours when pandal visits are likely to peak.
Dhanbad Set to Glow During Durga Puja
As the festival approaches, markets and puja areas across Dhanbad are gradually taking on a festive appearance.
Decorative lighting, colourful installations and themed pandals are expected to transform several parts of the city after sunset.
This year's celebrations are bringing together religious devotion, traditional culture, local heritage and creative pandal design.
For Dhanbad residents, Durga Puja is more than a religious festival. It is also an important cultural occasion that brings together puja committees, artisans, traders, volunteers and local communities.
